Jose Gonzalez is a painter and photographer based in Portland, Oregon, whose artistic journey is deeply rooted in a profound love for nature and a commitment to conservation. In 2011, he earned his BA in Visual Public Arts from CSU Monterey Bay, where he honed his skills and developed his artistic vision. In 2023 he earned his MA in Conservation Education from Miami University of Ohio where he was able to use art as a tool for conservation.
Gonzalez's primary medium is acrylic, but is known to include the use of newspaper to enhance the messaging behind his artwork. As a conservationist, he is deeply committed to understanding and preserving the natural world, embarking on a journey of exploration and discovery. Immersing himself in nature, he observes its nuances, captures its essence through photography, and delves into research to unravel its secrets.


His current body of work focuses on the messaging of cohabitating with urban wildlife and their importance to the environment. Through his art, Gonzalez seeks to raise awareness about the delicate balance between humans and wildlife in urban environments, advocating for their protection and conservation.
