M E X I C O
I concentrate my artwork on ceramics, but I also love to paint. When I lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, that enthralling city first motivated me to work in clay, making pieces inspired by nature.
Recently I have been creating my own ceramic Alebrijes, based on the famous spiritual and magical animals of Oaxaca, Mexico. I wanted to do this artwork to communicate my concern about protecting animals that are in danger of extinction and to inspire people to respect nature and the life around us.
My work in painting is a series of encaustics of the ocean; the idea of painting ocean waves comes from my admiration for surfers. I usually begin with an oil painting on paper, canvas or panel, and then blend pigments and melted wax to add layers over the painting, creating depth and drama.
Part of my work in painting is about conservation, social awareness, getting to know other people and nature. I am always fascinated by different things that I am discovering in my life, and how they come through in my art
